Paris

I went to Paris not long ago to see Alicia. Just a quick couple of nights sleepover at her house and making sure I bought a few bottles of wine to bring home, and ate my favourite French foods! An unexpected treat was arriving to Alicia's house and finding she'd made raclette!

I don't know how easy it is to find raclette cheese here but I am very much investing in one of these machines! Serve with potatoes, cold meats and salad - phenomenal! The next day I took a bus up to Versailles, Alicia lives 15 minutes away so that was a nice bonus!

I just visited the gardens and the gift shop, even though they didn't have the wine glasses I was hoping for...never mind! That night I met up with some old friends and we went for a drink and sushi!

I could not love this sushi place more...I've mentioned it before, here. Anyway, after this Alicia and I went on for some drinks so we headed to a bar in Chatelet.

Then...well we had a fairly nightmare journey that involved a good 3 mile walk but hey...let's remember the good times! The next day I headed into Paris to say hello.

I stopped for lunch at a restaurant I absolutely adore but which has no website - it's called La Capannina. This pizza is amazing, think it's called La Parme, it has gorgonzola on it!

And then headed home in some pretty awful weather! Aw Paris...

Benihana - Chelsea

Ben has been talking about us going to a Benihana for ages! So when I saw a deal on Amazon Local, I snapped it up for a double date with Phil and Ida!

So, for £29 we got a teppanyaki menu with a glass of prosecco. You got about four mini starters and three mains with a choice between prawns, chicken, salmon and steak teppanyaki, with rice and ice cream dessert - not bad at all. I expected super small portions but there was so much food and we were all so full by the end we could not finish everything! We made the mistake of ordering extra sushi (although it was so good you could hardly call it a mistake).

So, in case you are not aware, at Benihana, your mains are cooked right in front of you by one of the chefs with an incredible amount of flare. Things were thrown in the air, diced and cut with skill, flipped, tossed, somersaulted around, etc. And of course...there was an onion volcano.

Dinner and a show. Awesome.

The food itself was also pretty damn tasty! I would totally go again...but I think I would keep my eye out for a deal as a peek at the dinner menu indicates that it is a little pricey outside of a deal. It was an exceptionally nice restaurant though, and we left very happy customers!

Poppies

It's been 100 years since the outbreak of the first World War and it's been commemorated at the Tower of London with an incredible display of ceramic poppies - 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red' by Paul Cummins.
Sadly, it has been removed now but it served it's purpose in ensuring that we don't forget those lost during the war with each ceramic poppy marking a British military fatality.

Saturday Sewing Sessions

Faye and I decided we wanted to learn how to sew. I did textiles at school, but it's a long time since I was sixteen...so we found a class. Introducing Saturday Sewing Sessions.

We opted for the 'make your own make up case' class as it had all the skills we wanted to learn, all the basics! After being invited into the very cute studio and given a warming, and much-needed cup of tea...

...we were walked through the basics of using a sewing machine.

And then, we set to trying to set up our sewing machines.

A couple of blips and we were doing test stitches!

We picked out our fabrics and zips for the make-up bags and, after a short tutorial on how to put it together, we set to work.
