Deathship 666

Well, this is long overdue. I have some awesome friends. This is obvious. What you DON'T know, is that I have some very very talented friends.

Gemma we have seen before at the Redbull Soapbox Derby and the beer pong day.

Michael and I don't see each other as often - but he usually shows his face at big events like birthdays. I met them back in Uni when I auditioned for their Phantom of the Opera spoof they'd written, and got to know them better when we all participated in Jesus Christ Superstar. Anyway, this super talented duo and Michael's twin brother Paul co-wrote Deathship 666. And this is what I'm telling you about.

Here is the trailer. I have brought this into your life. You're welcome. As if that wasn't enough click HERE and you can scroll to the bottom of that page and get yourself tickets to see this amazing, hilarious play. Talk about giving. I saw it twice before it went to Edinburgh Fringe Festival to sell out shows and rave reviews. Lucky for me and you, it's showing again in London and I fully intend to see it a third time as I'm told there's been changes...not that I needed an incentive!

If you couldn't tell from the trailer, this play is a comedy. Critics call it 'Titanic meets Airplane' - and I'd say that's about right, but the humour is a bit more modern and thus very appealing to literally anyone who likes to laugh.

If you've been to Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus or Oxford Circus lately, you might have spotted their poster. Now you'll know what it is. :-)

If that weren't awesome enough - Kim Cattrall recently tweeted about it!! It's entering celebrity circles now...

The play is getting bigger and bigger and honestly, don't you want to be one of those who got to see it before EVERYONE was talking about it?

PS. if you want to see it during it's Christmas run CLICK HERE which is a bit more of a direct link to the tickets - you can filter for Deathship666 only :-)

Center Parcs

Have you been to Center Parcs? If you haven't, grab some friends and do it. Center Parcs isn't actually too expensive if you do it right. We booked Monday-Friday which cost £339. That was me, Ben and Ben's sister, Gemma.

A little over £100 each. We took a drive to a huge Sainsburys nearby to buy food for the week which was about £30 each. If you don't want to, you don't have to spend any more than that. As it was, we actually didn't.

Now, bad side, you can't check in til after 3pm, and, cheekily, they have you check out on a Friday before 10am. You're free to still spend the day there on the Friday but once we had the car packed up, we were ready to go. But anyway, the villas are very nice!

Center Parcs Nov 2013
And since my primary goal on this holiday was to recharge my very burnt out batteries, it was heavenly! Booking with Center Parcs means trips to the swimming area are free. This is where the fun is, especially at Elveden, the branch we visited, which is the only Center Parcs that has a Tropical Cyclone slide....

It is as terrifying as it looks, that drop completely took me by surprise! After our first trip down, I wouldn't go on it again, although I did end up going twice the next day. You will also find in your Subtropical Swimming Paradise, jacuzzi's, which are lovely and relaxing if there's no kids in them...even when there are kids in them I find it quite entertaining. There's the wave pool which, for five minutes every half hour will have you bouncing on moderate waves. There's the lazy river which is pretty good fun! Mild currents take you round a little lagoon type thing! The rapids, my favourite since I was a kid! A cold plunge pool in the outside swimming area...which I didn't go in, and a few water slides for good measure. Plenty to do, you can spend a day there if you mix up your water fun with chilling out with a drink, poolside.

The activities available at Center Parcs are vast. And generally pricey. During winter a lot of them are not tempting. But we did decide to do some pottery painting which was just awesome! Here are our efforts...

Forgive me because I took pictures of mine every time I added something to it, I was terrified the next thing I did would ruin it so I wanted to capture the moments I was pleased!

We all took the same approach. Went into it with a vague idea about what we were trying to do then let it evolve into something...which sounds quite profound but really it just meant we made our mistakes work for us!

You leave them with the people to glaze and fire and I have to admit, I was pretty pleased with how they turned out. I didn't get a chance to snap a pic of Gemma's finished product as we dropped it off in Kent on the way home (I'll grab a pic at Christmas) but here is mine and Ben's.

I literally loved that class. It was so much fun and something I definitely don't do at home, which is the whole point of a holiday activity in my opinion! We EASILY spent two hours in there without noticing...may have been more, the limit was meant to be 90 minutes but it wasn't too busy so no one was clock watching us.
Another activity that was obviously going to happen was mini golf...

No need to ask who won that round...

Check out Center Parcs on their website! I think we're going to look to go with a big group next time...and maybe splash out on one of those villas with a jacuzzi...mwahahahaha!

Faye's Bday

Faye and I met first year of Uni. I was running round halls wrapped in bubble wrap and Faye came out of the kitchen to investigate. Her and I became firm friends pretty quickly, bonding over a love of dancing (though she is light years better than me!) and silliness!

We're quite a bit older now, in fact next September will be 10 years since we all started Uni, but two things have remained the same, we're still friends (though we don't see each other as much due to hectic conflicting schedules) and we still love to dance. Faye is still miles better than me, but that was never going to change! Anyway, I digress.

We went to the Water Poet for a Sunday roast.

Forgive me, this was the day after the Arnie Allnighter and I wasn't on the ball enough to take pictures of the amazing roast dinners we all enjoyed. But it was amazing. The pub itself is also pretty awesome and always busy. Good atmosphere. Afterwards, we went round the corner to an awesome bar which is popular with swing dancers, which is what Faye is now specialising in. I nabbed these pictures from her Facebook so you can see how awesome she is!

Arnie Allnighter

I am not being very good lately and I fully blame work. People are in a rush trying to get things finalised before Christmas and I'm under a lot of pressure at the mo but, anyway, that's not interesting. You know what is interesting? Prince Charles cinema. Heard of it? Neither had I until a little while ago. It is awesome!

Arnie Allnight Nov 2013

I am currently a little obsessed with Arnold Scwarzenegger. Hilarious, yes. But I'm a big fan of some of his films and when I saw he had a biography...I just had to buy it (I'm only a third of the way through but I totally recommend it!) So when I saw that Prince Charles were doing an Arnie Allnighter...well, it just sounded awesome!

Arnie Allnight Nov 2013

Luckily, Chris and Ben agreed, so we booked our tickets and, on the Saturday in question, we decided a trip to China town was in order!

Arnie Allnight Nov 2013

This is my go-to restaurant in China town, Aroma, basically because my dad told me it was good and since he eats there every time he goes to London, I take it as read.

Always always have crispy duck pancakes, it's just so good.

We got to the cinema nice and early because if you're going to be in a cinema for 12 hours, you want a good view.

It was awesome. The atmosphere was amazing, there was no queue for the girls toilets (a rare win!) and the lovely Prince Charles staff sold popcorn (as well as tea and coffee) all night. They do loads of other events, beer and pizza nights, quote alongs which I fully intend to attend. I would probably do an allnighter again but they are hard going...I made it through the first three films and then slept on and off through the others. Lucky for me the people next to us left quite early so I slept across a couple of seats.

Arnie Allnight Nov 2013
It took a couple days to recover but we proudly posed for our survivors photo afterwards! Times being approximate are right - the whole thing ran late and we dragged ourselves out, squinting into the sunlight at 10am.
