Mini Golf @ Jurassic Encounters

Man, I love mini golf. Like, I LOVE it. My Dad is a golfer and he took me and my sister to many a mini golf course. So much do I love it, in fact, that when me and my sister went travelling a couple of years ago, I found a mini golf course in Koh Tao, Thailand and played not once, but twice!

So, I was pretty keen to find one in London...Ben found one a little way out in Surrey, but it looked AWESOME so we assembled some friends, and headed to Jurassic Encounters! Now - I fully admit that I stole the best of these pictures from Chris cos that guy takes a hell of a picture...

Despite her injury, Steph only finished two points behind Lynsey! Chris destroyed all of us (though we don't know how it would have played out if Rupert and Faye hadn't had to leave early). Most importantly I beat Ben and collected on our wager. A couple of impressive hole in ones happened (yes, by me) but all in all we just had a hell of a fantastic day. The course is a little tricky to get to from New Malden station but luckily it was a nice day so we didn't mind the walk. Also, at £30 for a group of 4 we were lucky there were eight of us! We grabbed some very yummy food in a restaurant near the station before heading home. Awesome awesome day.

Barcelona II

When you have a friend in another country, it is such a fantastic excuse to jet off for a visit - 'I totally HAVE to go to Barcelona, I haven't seen Kate in aaaaages!'

Barcelona June 2013
We grabbed some breakfast after dropping Immy off at school...the Spanish do sweet croissants, very strange...but enjoyable!

Barcelona June 2013
Then we caught a play - songs from Disney - how awesome!

Barcelona June 2013
Imogen rocked the crocodile look.

Barcelona June 2013
Gorgeous like her Mum!

That evening we hit up a tapas bar - yum yum!

Barcelona June 2013
Enjoyed with a nice glass of rosé...I asked for red but hey, it was hot enough that I didn't mind the swap! Cold rosé on a hot day is luxurious!

Barcelona June 2013
Then we hit the arcade! Immy had a bounce while I thrashed Kate at ice hockey. Standard.

Barcelona June 2013
Erm...that ride's not for you, Kate.

Barcelona June 2013
The next day was gorgeous and we headed out to see La Sagrada Familia.

Fantastic piece of architecture, we chose a restaurant where we could still enjoy the view.

I am also going to recommend this restaurant like crazy cos it was so lovely! Kate didn't like it but she drowns her food in salt and is super picky so we're not going to trust her opinion :-P

It's also got amazing reviews on tripadvisor. The guy serving us spoke amazing English which was very helpful to me and he was absolutely lovely! Imogen loved him as well saying he was 'a beautiful man' which probably had nothing to do with the fact that he called her 'princess'.

Nothing at all.

I could not resist this bread basket - so yummy!

And what is a trip to Spain without sangria?

This pizza was the best thing EVER!After eating more than I should (sue, me, who could leave that pizza behind?) the three of us headed towards the car to chill out in what was left of the sun. It was everything I wanted visiting Kate to be, fun, chilled and full of good conversation!

LA by Diana Live Magazine - BAG GIVEAWAY!

How exciting!! I received an email the other day from Diana (whose blog you can find here) inviting me personally to enter her competition. Now, I have no doubt she invited hundreds of people but this is still, nevertheless, a nice little break through for me! It's only fairly recently that I've received a few more comments on my blog and it's nice to know that it's getting out there a bit! I'm definitely trying to keep it interesting for anyone who stumbles across it!

Anyway - she's having a competition and giving away a Michael Kors bag, I'm not really a follower of designers but I am an avid handbag collector! And check out these!

Join me in entering? Click here!

Massive thanks to Diana for making me feel super special!

Swan Lake @ Royal Albert Hall

Bit of a different way to spend a Wednesday evening, Sarah invited me to see Swan Lake at the Royal Albert Hall!

This was my first trip to the Royal Albert Hall and it is SPECTACULAR! Look at the size of it!

It was pretty packed out as well - given the weather yesterday you can imagine how warm it was!

So, the story of Swan Lake (we had to look it up as we did get a bit confused), in a nutshell. Prince is told by parents to marry, gets annoyed so goes off into the woods, he sees loads of swans and is about to shoot them (for some reason) when he sees them transform into women - turns out some evil guy cursed a princess (I think) and her lady friends to be swans during the day but women at night. Prince falls in love with swan princess (Odette) but evil guy replaces her with his own daughter, the black swan, disguised as Odette, Prince is convinced but then realises Odette is being held prisoner (she sends him a vision) - big climatic ending and love triumphs all...which I didn't think was how it ended based on the Black Swan film - but hey.

It was a really beautiful ballet, music is amazing and the dancing is so impressive. I completely recommend it to anyone who enjoys dance.

80s vs 90s @ The Jazz Café - Camden

So, we are down to mere weeks before Shreena and Krishna completely abandon me for Texas. I refuse to be sad about it though because we often go months without seeing each other and easily keep in touch to the point that when we do see each other again, we just veg out in front of the TV, so we'll be fine.

Anyway - Shreena assorted some of her favourite people -

Shreena's Leaving Do

We went to Bloomsbury Lanes in Russel Square which is, just absolutely awesome - I recommend it above Allstar lanes because you're not obligated to get dinner there and they have arcade games and table tennis and foosball for free!!

Shreena's Leaving Do
Everyone seemed to be on good bowling form - except Steph who has caused herself some serious wrist damage by stapling, of all things, that wife of mine cannot be left to her own devices!

Shreena's Leaving Do

Look at her, useless without me.

Shreena's Leaving Do

The plan was to go to 80s vs 90s night at The Jazz Café in Camden after bowling which is why Shreena and I are dressed like this...though I don't think we were obvious enough! Even with our 90s hair bits pulled down!

Shreena's Leaving Do

We spent some of our time dancing but the dance floor was pretty crowded and jostly...they also were a little stingey with their tunes, we did eventually get 5ive, Spice Girls and, the one tune I'd really wanted, Mambo No. 5, but inbetween were some numbers we were not such fans of - plus, Ben hugely distracted us with the drinking game Ping Pang Pong. Know it?

OK - we'll explain. It's simple. Pick a person to start, they say ping, it then moves clockwise, the person to the left says pang, move clockwise again, this person says pong while simultaneously pointing to a person. This person then starts the next ping and it moves on like this. Sounds easy enough, right?

The trick is anyone can point at any time, and this causes a whole mess of confusion!

Take a sip of your drink if you lose but obviously drink responsibly, a hangover is a pain in the arse and even worse if you ruin the night for yourself or your friends by having too much. Know your limits, watch your intake. Everyone has a good time.

In our group we were all on good form, enjoying a few drinks but no messes of the night for the most part. I'm hoping to sneak in another evening or two with the Punwasi's before they go State-side, but we had a hell of a night saying our unofficial goodbyes!
